Largo al factotum, Il Barbiere di Siviglia

Stephen Pace has a bright and pointed baritone voice with great musicality and expression. In 2023, Stephen made his role and company debut with Opera Idaho singing Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and performed Paul Jobs in Utah Opera’s The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs. Previous roles with Utah Opera include Minskman in Flight (2022), William Dale in Silent Night (2020), and Paris in Roméo et Juliette (2018). Additional roles include Schaunard in La Boheme with St. George Opera (2019), and the title roles in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Gianni Schicchi as a guest artist with BYU Opera (2017).

Pace’s talent extends beyond opera, as he has made notable contributions as a soloist in various concert settings. He was featured as the baritone soloist singing both sets of Copland’s Old American Songs at Ballet West, and performed in a recital at the Deer Valley Music Festival. He also performed as the bass soloist in Haydn’s Missa in angustiis, collaborating with the Wasatch Chorale (2019).

After completing a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, Pace’s dedication to his craft led him to the renowned Wolf Trap Opera in 2010 and 2011 as a studio artist. He completed a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Indiana University (2012).

Outside of singing, Pace is an obsessed skier and mountain biker, finding adventure and solace in the mountains as often as possible.
